Leslie Kimbell (writer, actor, director, designer and self-proclaimed drama queen) gained the majority of her insane life experiences and extremely salty sense of humor from twenty-two years of traveling the world as a top-billed and award winning burlesque headliner and model.
Writing was something Leslie always dreamed of doing since high school. One day in the Spring of 2015, she sat down in front of her computer to start writing and didn’t get up for four months.
Her first play, FOUR OLD BROADS, is inspired by memories of her sassy and spunky Nannie DeVries and Aunt Sissie, who were always hysterical old broads. FOUR OLD BROADS simultaneously won two festivals in 2016 at Centre Stage Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina, and Theatre Victoria in Victoria, Texas. BROADS also received an AEA Workshop sponsored by Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company at The Cherry Lane Theatre, New York City, in 2017.
The sold out and record breaking World Premiere of FOUR OLD BROADS opened March 3, 2017, at Winder Barrow Community Theatre under the direction of Léland Downs Karas.
FOUR OLD BROADS was then published with Samuel French, now Concord Theatricals, in 2018, and has enjoyed a very successful production history all over the world.
Leslie’s second play FOUR OLD BROADS ON THE HIGH SEAS also had its sold out World Premiere March 1, 2019, at Winder Barrow Community Theatre, under the direction of Léland Downs Karas.
It is now being produced across the United States and Canada.
Leslie’s third play, PACKING UP POLLY premiered April 9th, 2021, in the middle of the Great COVID-19 Pandemic at OnStage Atlanta under the direction of Barry West and is now being produced across the country.
Leslie is thrilled and honored to have been coached and mentored by the amazingly wonderful Del Shores, Billie Nye-Muller and Kenny Wade Marshall.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Leslie now resides in Winder, Georgia, where she works with and serves on the boards of several area theaters. She is always somewhere on the planet, busy as an actor, director, occasional set painter, concessions attendant, or floor sweeper.
Leslie is a proud Dramatist Guild Member, the recipient of Georgia Theatre Conference Hall of Fame Award 2021, and a board member of the Del Shores Foundation.
You may accidentally stumble upon her in a dumpster somewhere screaming, "OMG! Can you believe they threw this away? It will look great on a set!"
As an actor, Leslie has appeared in numerous theatrical productions and has directed productions at several area theatre companies.
She has also appeared on television in shows such as Nowhere U.S.A., Swamp Murders, Snapped, Killer Couples, Murder Decoded and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne as well as many commercials and industrial videos. She has also had supporting roles in the films Buried Cain, The Midnight Man, Some Kind of Christmas and Blue Lightning.
Leslie’s most challenging role is that of “eternally exhausted” mother of two handsome boys, Cameron and Logan, and wife of Scott.
Her most recent role is "Sassy" (Her chosen grandmother name" to her first adorable grandson Atlas.
